2023 Copcan Deerborne Gutshot: NADGT Canada
On a very smokey Saturday in Elkford, BC 72, disc golfers gathered for the 2023 Copcan Deerborne Gutshot: NADGT Canada. I was one of them! Gimmy Abriotti and I signed up to play the tournament and we both competed in MA50. Gimmy had never played the course before and he struggled but still shot well. I have played the course before and in fact played the day before (Friday August 18th) and shot an Personal Best (-4) so I was expecting to have a great round. I did not disappoint. A perfect Fall day for a round in Lethbridge
October 9th and it is 20 degrees celsius outside and no wind! Jay, Murray, Gim and I played at the University. Just because the weather was nice did not mean my score was going to be nice. I had not played in over a month and it showed on a couple of holes. I finished with 6 strong holes and a +5 overall. Aperture Park is a fantastic 18 hole course located on the University of Lethbridge campus. The signature hole is Hole 16 where you are throwing through a gap and over the pond. 13th Annual Falcon’s Flight
4 days and nights of fun out at Aspen Meadows near Sundre for some disc golf. Murray and I had a bet, $5.00 per round for best score and then a final $5.00 for overall score. Well, Round 1 and Round 2 were tied and Round 3 he beat me by one stroke for a $10 win. Congrats Murray. Not my best showing but certainly was a highlight to Birdie Hole 13 on the East Course that I happen to sponsor. That hole is a long par 5 and I had a drop in 4! More details on the Tournament Page.
April Fool’s day?
Out playing a round at Nicholas Sheran with Murray. Early in the season and it is a Friday so we played the Red’s. Great start with an Eagle on 1 and then a bird on 2! What a shot. Threw the Disc Craft Archer off the Tee on 2 and parked it right under the basket for a drop in 2. The rest of the game was solid with a respectful -9 finish. Definite highlight was the perfect throw on Hole 2 and playing on a sunny day in April.
Currie Reservoir
Played a round at the Temporary Course at the Currie Reservoir and did NOT like it. The terrain was fun, the weather was decent the company was fantastic! My main complaint of the course is the philosophy. If I understand it correctly it was designed to be adaptable to play different holes and layout for tournaments verses regular play. The course has 21 holes and many of the fairways are ridiculously tight. In order to accommodate the 21 holes on a small space AND make the course tricky the course designers created ‘hazards’ rather than out of bounds.
