2023 Copcan Deerborne Gutshot: NADGT Canada

On a very smokey Saturday in Elkford, BC 72, disc golfers gathered for the 2023 Copcan Deerborne Gutshot: NADGT Canada. I was one of them! Gimmy Abriotti and I signed up to play the tournament and we both competed in MA50. Gimmy had never played the course before and he struggled but still shot well. I have played the course before and in fact played the day before (Friday August 18th) and shot an Personal Best (-4) so I was expecting to have a great round. I did not disappoint. What a difference 24 hours make. Calm cool overcast day. My putting was near perfect. I surprised myself on Hole 15 with a miss by 1cm. My drive on 15th was low and super fast with a tail wind past the basket and Hyzer out behind the grove of trees. I managed a decent recovery shot to put me within 5 meters of the basket. With my putting being solid I thought for sure I would have a par save. Nope. First win of 2021 and Kitty is mine!

Mildly windy and not especially warm but it was sunny and bright. Playing from the red Tee’s and my putting was average until the back nine. Really took off. I had a 3 stroke lead going into Hole 15. Murray and Jay both birdie the hole and I had a solid par. Way, deja vu on Hole 17, they both birdied and I took a par. Held on and won the round by 1 stroke! I won Kitty!
